Hey everyone! This is my first post and as you can see by the title, it's going to be about technology and its relation to education.
Let’s start.
We all know how technology became an essential part of our lives, trying to spend a few hours with our low batteries has almost became a survival mode now.
"Almost six in ten of the nearly 8 billion of us on Earth are connected to the Internet." [1]
We learn about the world with the internet, we can communicate with someone thousands of kilometers away from us, we follow the latest trends, and even our sense of humor is affected by media.
Besides, our lives are a lot easier thanks to technology and the internet. I am sure some of you heard your parents or teachers talking about how they had to spend hours in a library to find the piece of knowledge they needed.
Now all you have to do is simply type a few words on Google to find millions of sources, the search engine even corrects your phrase to lead you to what you exactly need.
With technology occupying our lives to this extent, we should integrate it into education as well. Because the children of this new era grow up with technology, and to have the ability to use it as a teacher is a must.
Also, living in a world that is connected more than ever, education must include teaching a student how to work within a diverse group, create an authentic conversation, devise projects, and adapt to changes quickly.
With teachers’ instructions, students can do extra-curricular activities with higher efficiency. 21st century's technology is a golden opportunity for self-learning and thus teachers should make use of it as much as possible. After all, we can find sources for everything we want to learn, from learning a new language to how to play an instrument, choices are limitless. We should just find the right app or website for our students.
Below, you can see some of the skills that are vital for the 21st century.
In this rapidly changing and developing world, our students will need these skills to be successful.
Now that we generally covered how important technology is in 21st-century learning, I want to end my first post here.
Thanks for reading it.
Take care!
